We’ll begin with something cliche. They say tough times don’t last, but tough people do. It takes resilience and grit to pull through tough times and reach your goals.

The only way to navigate a difficult road is to stay positive and have a clear view of your destination.

Here are 8 ways to do just that.

Focus on what you have, not one what you don’t

The truth is that tough times can blind us – it causes us to ignore the things that are already working for us in life. No matter how difficult a situation is, it can’t be that bad. There are always things in your life to be proud of.

If it has lasting value, there’s not need to chase it

There are things we have to chase and hunt for in life. And the pursuit of happiness can be an exhausting mental exercise. Don’t let your goals overwhelm you and be the source of all your worries. Sometimes you have to value things that are pure like friendship and family.

There is always something to garner from failure

So many people think failure is a horrible tragedy to experience! But understand, the reality is sometimes we fail and that’s perfectly okay. In fact, you should want to fail …forward. Failing fast is the quickest way to growth. So fail away!

Happiness is a choice

Yup. You can choose to be happy or not. You have the capacity to create your own happiness. Happiness comes from within, so stop depending on others to do it for you.

You are not alone on this journey

Don’t get so melodramatic about what you have to deal with. You should look beyond your problems, because there’s always someone worse off than you. So don’t dwell on your challenges, but be thankful for having the strength and will to help you go on.

Nothing is permanent

Things change. Life is made up of several cycles. The day will definitely turn to night and night to day. It is up to you to adapt to the changing times. Your problems of today may not be your problems of tomorrow. Remember, nothing is permanent. You got this!

You can’t be everything to everyone

You’re not perfect. Get over it. There’s no point comparing yourself with others. Appreciate your uniqueness. And compete with yourself…not others.

Stay positive

Got negativity? Time to look within. If negative stuff keeps showing up in your life, time to ask yourself some tough questions: is it me?  Probably.
